In 2026, we proudly mark 25 years of dedicated service to Tanzanian communities. From our humble beginnings, SHIPO the Southern Highlands Participatory Organisation, has grown into a beacon of hope, driving transformative projects in water and sanitation, health, education, agriculture, entrepreneurship, and climate action.
This Silver Jubilee is not just a milestone for us, it’s a celebration of you: the communities we’ve partnered with, the donors who’ve believed in our vision, the volunteers who’ve given their time, and the teams who’ve turned challenges into lasting solutions.
Together, we’ve achieved extraordinary impact:

Our Journey So Far
For a quarter-century, SHIPO has focused on participatory, sustainable solutions that empower local people to lead their own development.
We’ve drilled wells and built sanitation facilities that provide clean water and healthier environments. We’ve trained entrepreneurs through our SMART Centre, promoted agroecology for food security, restored ecosystems to combat climate change, and constructed schools to brighten futures for the next generation.
Every project reflects our core belief: True change comes from within communities, guided by local knowledge and innovation.
As we celebrate 25 years of service, we’re more committed than ever to building resilient, thriving communities. The next chapter will focus on scaling climate-smart solutions, expanding entrepreneurship training, and ensuring no one is left behind in access to water, education, and opportunity.
